  How much of the bible....

  i think this is the perfect time and chance to see how much of the bible jw's really get through over the year.

  i'd like for whoever can post the verses that were covered each time.

  and if possible the length of time spent on that verse.

  I don't mean for anyone to do a graph, maybe once a month or every couple of weeks type up a list of the verses that were used while at the meetings and what not.

  I kind of remember that, it was a few months ago. I think either I or someone else was asking the same question or similar to it. I know that JW briefly look at a bible verse when refering to it from their studies.

  I'm still trying to find a way to tell my JW friends and family that they are not truly studying the bible but studying the magazines. The last time I tried that they said that to a friend of mine they said it was easiser to study with their magazine. I asked her if she would like to look at another study aid, she said she couldn't, but didn't give a reason.
  
  To me the watchtower and awakes are stories with a verse and of course the verse will relate to what they want you to believe is true, right?

  I personally prefer study aids because it actually makes you think of the scriptures and makes you think for yourself and relate it to you personaly.

  I guess it would help to be a little more clear. No wonder I wasn't getting any response. lol

  Well, for those still going to their meetings I'm curious to see just how much of the bible is gone through. I guess I am interested in seeing what verses are not going over.

  I know at one time there was a chart for this for a previous year. I am interested in this year since it is the start of a new year.

  JW's and Internet. Wikipedia?

  jh posted a thread about how wikipedia clearly shows how goofy the doctrine of jw's has been in changing over the years.

  so it makes me wonder could wikipedia be the driving force in the no "independent" study?

  i know that my whole family uses wikipedia often and use it as a respected source when researching things.

  I remember when this thread came up. Wikipedia became goofy for a bit. I don't rely on wiki for research projects because as we saw anyone can alter it and say what they want. Be careful in your researches with that site or any site for that matter. Use reliable sources and you'll be fine. :0)

  we found this quiz after reading the book parenting beyond belief and sweetpea and i decided to take the challenge - afterall how difficult can 50 bible questions be for us born and brought up as jw's?.

  our results were enlightening to say the least - we both scored 28/50 - not exactly brilliant although apparently above average.. take the quiz and post your results and comments..

  I got 40.

  Can someone tell me if it would be worth the time to show the true 10 commandments to the JW's that I know. Everytime I try to tell them something that is incorrect with their beliefs they have an answer right away of how it can be right, which still does not sound right to me but in their mind it is. I don't creat arguments so I leave it as that when they do tell me their side. I just look for something else later. I need a better approach.

  Hey my friend is going to start going back to the hall. I wonder if any amount of praying for him to see the real truth would help. I don't want her to start getting further brainwashed then she already is.

  On reading the bible I was thinking about something that I came across (forgive me if has already been brought up) but on Job 6:6

  in a "normal" bible the verse reads "can flavorless food be eaten without salt? Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?"

  in the NWT it reads "...slimy juice of a marshmellow"

  what the heck does that mean? Please, anyone who has an answer for that I'd be greatful.

  someone found out I was reading it and said it was full of lies and that the it is full of Hypocratic sayings.

  I'm not going to stop reading it. I know where I stand with my beliefs but trying to get through to people.. geez. I finding it is a very difficult task. I will continue to pray for those people.

  How can we prove that this book is not full of lies?
